From psychedelic florals to home BARS, Cindy Fuller, founder of Designs Direct, predicts an end to rose gold shades but huge growth for jewel tones and various shades of pink which will be huge with a resurgence of velvet in homes across globe in 2019

2019 will see deeper jewel tones, velvets, florals and of course, shutters in our homes

An interiors expert has revealed the biggest trends set to sweep the design world in 2019 - Cindy Fuller, founder of Designs Direct, has revealed that mixing metals like brass and gold will likely take over homes in the coming year, as they look great with rough timber and brick mixing the loft look that has been really popular with a more sophisticated feel. Other trends include the rise of large floral patterns on walls, fabrics and even on ceilings.

Unsurprisingly, shades of pink including blush and millennial are here to stay thanks to their Instagram-friendly nature.

Pink shades are set to dominate in 2019

Femail ran through some of Cindy's predictions for home design trends in the coming year including pink - the most Instagrammable colour of all and the Bloggers favourite!

Mixing metals

Rose gold has been everywhere for the past few years, but the copper shade's reign at the top is set to come to an end in 2019.

In its place, a passion for mixing metals like brass, gold and copper has surfaced. The different shades give a warm feel to the home, and look great with rough timber or brick.

Home Bars

Home bars have seen a huge resurgence in the last couple of years as staying in has become the new, going out and will become ever more popular as they come into their own when friends and relatives visit.

Pink

No matter the shade, pink is one of the most Instagrammable colours and can make any photo look incredible. It's no wonder then that blush pinks, millennial pinks and moody pinks have become the new 'neutral' for many homes. The versatile colour lends itself well to greens, navy blues and blacks and will be taking over plenty of rooms in the New Year.

Jewel tones

Jewel tones - think deep emeralds, amethyst, and sapphires - are going to be huge in 2019. Don't be afraid to use the dark shades around your home as they can make a real statement but remember to soften the bold colours by using neutral furnishings.

Floral patterns

Cindy predicts that florals will prevail in the New Year and be used on walls, ceilings, fabrics and even floors. 'Larger floral patterns will also be huge, excuse the pun,' she added. 'If you feel that an entire wall of florals is OTT, try large floral stickers to make a statement.'

Big, bold and sophisticated florals look brilliant

Velvet

In the last six months of 2018, internet searches for velvet have seen a 400 per cent rise - so this fabric is going to be huge in 2019. Cindy added: 'I sometimes wonder if velvet was ever really out. 'It's a luxe fabric for beds, sofas, chairs and cushions.'

Velvet will be back in 2019

Window dressing

To show off the latest trends or to give your existing look a boost, fitting plantation shutters which let you control the light as well as bringing privacy to the room, are ideal. Available in a wide range of on trend colours and finishes, they give the room its final touches of class and elegance.

Shutters are available in a huge range of colours, sizes and with multiple options to select from which means that they are truly bespoke and will suit any interior design from plain white walls with oak floors, through the new season shades with fitted carpets and even wood lined walls with OSB flooring when creating a rustic look!
